Zimmertwins.com ACTIVITY#4

Students will be asked to create a cartoon depicting a situation previously scripted.

Level: Pre-intermediate - Intermediate



Development:
  1. Students will be told that they will be working with the website: zimmertwins.com for their next assignment. For this reason, they will be shown the sample creation that can be seen here.
  2. After watching the sample, they will be asked to watch the tutorial, which can be seen here.
  3. Then, they will watch the starters and choose one as a trigger for the brainstorming that will lead to the writing of their scripts.
  4. The teacher will conduct a brainstorming activity with the different groups in order to get ideas for the development of their video outline.
  5. Students write the outline for their videos.
  6. Then, they create their videos on the website. Once they have finished, the teacher will post a link to their creations on the class’ wiki or blog.

Sketchcast.com ACTIVITY#3

Students will be asked to create a ‘monster’ on sketchcast and then, when they show their video to their classmates, they will explain how they did it step by step.

Level: Beginners - Pre-intermediate


Development:
  1. Students will be told they will be working with Sketchcast.com for their next assignment, with that purpose in mind, they will be shown the sample that can be seen here.
  2. Students will be instructed to create a monster with the tool. For this purpose, they will be shown the tutorial that can be seen here.
  3. Once students finish creating their monsters, they will be asked to describe its characteristics while they play the video.
  4. After all students have shared their work with the rest of the class, the teacher will upload their work to their wiki or blog.


Evaluation criteria:
Students will be evaluated on their ability to use the language accurately and the originality of their creations.

Glogster.com ACTIVITY #2

Students will be asked to create a poster dealing with eating disorders and what they can do to help someone going through them.
Level: Intermediate - Advanced

Development of the activity:
  1. Students will be told that they will be working with Glogster.com for their next assignment.
  2. In order to get them familiarized with the tool, they will be shown a sample here.
  3. Then, they will be told that the topic will deal with eating disorders. Students will be divided into groups of 4 and each group will get a different topic, for example, binge eating, anorexia, etc.
  4. Then, they will be shown a tutorial on how to work with the site, which can be seen here.
  5. Students will be given time to complete the task and when finished, the teacher will post it on their wiki or blog.

GoAnimate.com ACTIVITY #1

Students will be asked to create a short video with at least 3 characters and 5 scenes. Students will have to choose a topic and write a dialogue around it. The topics must deal with current issues.

Level: Intermediate - Advanced


Activity Development:
  1. Students will be told that they will be using a new web tool for their following project. They will be shown the tool and the sample that can be seen here.
  2. After watching the sample video, they will be asked to choose the topic. (They will be provided with newspapers in English and access to the Net.)
  3. After they have chosen the topic, the teacher will ask them to think about how they would talk to a classmate about the issue they have picked. (For example, urban tribes or drug abuse). Then, they will be asked to write a short dialogue on the topic and send it to the teacher by e-mail.
  4. The teacher will correct the ‘scripts’ with the students and they will put together the final draft.
  5. Once the dialogue is ready, they will be shown a tutorial on how to use the GoAnimate.com that can be seen here.
  6. Students will now create a short video using the dialogue and the different characters the site offers.
  7. Once they have finished, the teacher will post the final results on the class blog or wiki.

This is a website that allows you to create videos with fun characters. This can prove very useful when teaching your students how to develop a story.

Sketchcast.com TUTORIAL

This site is very useful for creating tutorials on how to draw, but it is also useful for students to work with art projects. For example, they can draw something and explain their characteristics while doing so.

This site is very useful for kids and teachers to create their own interactive presentations including music, pictures, videos, etc.

GoAnimate.com TUTORIAL

GoAnimate.com is a website that allows you to create videos with fun characters. This site can prove very useful when your students are working with physical descriptions, or even some tenses, for them to create dialogues and have characters interact with one another.
